PT Dagnall T5826 for a 5E3
Would such PT be overkill for a 5E3 style build?

What sort of specs does it have? Footprint? How much real estate does it occupy?

I've been looking for specs but havent found anything. It currently powers a 100 watt amp. I guess these are used in some Marshall amps.....
On stand by I get 409 volts on both HT tabs.
On with no stand by one tab reads 443V and the other reads 423V
Both readings with no tubes.

409-409, wow, that's high voltage for a pair of 6v6 in a Deluxe. I think you are looking for between 360 and 375VDC at the plates. If I were going to do this, I might build a Deluxe preamp with 6L6-EL34-KT66 type of tube for the power tubes. If it was running a 100W amp, it has plenty of juice for the higher power octal tubes.

Thx Phil, what changes would be needed to run 6L6's if I were to build a Deluxe?
Re: PT Dagnall T5826 for a 5E3
<shrug> I'd just build it and put in the 6L6s. It is a cathode biased amp. It will probably be fine with the 8K OT and 250 or 270 ohm shared cathode resistor. There are calculations to be made, which I haven't done. Maybe someone else here actually knows and can do better than my <shrug>?tribi9 wrote:Thx Phil, what changes would be needed to run 6L6's if I were to build a Deluxe?
I think, with a pair of 6L6, you'll be making about 25W-30W, so you will need a different OT, one that can handle the wattage. Seriously, before you buy such a thing, make sure of the correct primary impedance at the expected plate voltage. Sorry, I'm not confident about doing the calculations to get the correct answer.
Re: PT Dagnall T5826 for a 5E3
I was just wondering if it would be possible. I bought an amp and I was going to gut it for parts but Ill probably just sell it and use the funds to get the proper pt and parts for the Deluxe I want to build...
