Liverpool Power Transformer Secondaries

Post by Gibsonman63 »

The schematic calls for 234VAC. The Pacific has taps for 250VAC and 280VAC, but I don't know if this is loaded or not. Anyone know the correct taps to use for a Liverpool. I am installing a VVR as well, so the B+ will get dropped further when I dial back.

Has anyone does this on their Liverpool builds? If so where did you put the switch on the chasis to switch between the 250V and 280V.
Thanks, I'm getting ready to start my Liverpool build and this sounds interesting to try.

I put the switch on the back to switch between HT voltages.

Thanks for the quick response. I think I'll leave the leads long and try both as I build and see if it's a feature to stick with or not. I'm a newbie on building amps and this Liverpool will be my first one so I'm sure I'll have lots of questions along the way.
Thanks again

Here's how I did it in my recent 2 x EL84 Rocket Reverb build. Wish I hadn't bothered, as the 290v setting is pretty high, and doesn't improve the tone in this amp (should have hard-wired 260v taps only).

Cheers,

FWIW, I tried both and ended up using the higher voltage taps for my Liverpool. I did not put them on a switch, but I tried them both. Also, because I installed a VVR on my amp, the higher voltage tap gives the most range and I can easily dial back to the lower voltage when I want to.
