Great job Fusionbear. I like the economy of the layout. That's a cool setup for your ground buss; I like the way you used the terminal strips as an anchor for the buss bar.
What style of music are you playing? Is this amp predominantly for clean(ish) tones?

Re: New S100 Inspired Build
Thanks! I am still a beginner by all accounts, but I attempted to implement the so called "Larry" grounding scheme. I play all kinds of music, but this amp is my attempt to get the clean tones i like in one amp. Turn the treble and presence down and you have the perfect jazz amp, turn the treble up and you have fender tones, turn up the presence and you have vox chime. Plenty of headroom in a small package. It takes pedals well too.Colossal wrote:Great job Fusionbear. I like the economy of the layout. Hey fusionbear, I was trying to place you because your name sounded familar, then it came to me.
You're the guy at The Gear Page that does the demos and stuff out in your garage.
I have enjoyed some of those.
Good to see you over here getting your feet wet building amps.
It's a lot of fun and rewarding too!
Take care!

Thanks for your kind words. I will attempt to make a clip this week.
tenguitars on this forum came over yesterday and played the amp. He really liked it too and he has had his share of amp building and knows a thing or two...

Thanks for posting your schematics Fusionbear. Interesting looking design. Are you using it with a pedal in front for distortion or strictly clean only?? With a name like Fusionbear and a Splawn in your signature line, I was thinking you were into progressive and fusion!

Hey Carl whats up !fusionbear wrote:
BTW, what de-fluxing spray do you like?
Do not use Flux off or anything like it unless you want intermittent problems and values that drift all over the place. That is all pretty well documented.
i had major weird voodoo issues with Flux removing sprays. Clean everything off in a Anhydrous Alcohol and everything worked again. especially with very small pitch traces, surface mount and Logic.
Use Anhydrous Alcohol only (not pharmacy Alcohol unless it is at least 99%)
Soak it in a shallow bath and brush with an acid brush or clean while still hot and it works great. Personally I would wrap the lead wires around the posts

Well, if Tri Chloro Ethane or Methyl Ethyl Ketone is not available ...husky wrote:Use Anhydrous Alcohol only (not pharmacy Alcohol unless it is at least 99%)
The alcohol out on the shelf is 91% at best which is 9% water.
They should have the good stuff behind the pharmacy counter either Anhydrous or 99%.
They may have to order it in for you but it's not much more than the watered down rubbing alcohol on display.
Some drug stores may stock 95%, but you really want at least 99%.

Hello John!
I did end up using Anhydrous Alcohol. Much cleaner and no residue to deal with. One of my friends begged me to build him one of these. I will try the post wrapping on the next one and see how it works.
Still loving the guitars your company built for me!!!!

Re: New S100 Inspired Build
Can you use denatured alcohol as well?
I bought some of that at Home Depot a few years ago and have used it several times, seemed to work fine,
