has got me thinking,
I would love to build an amp that has that kind of "takeoff" ability, and understanding what makes it happen is a project in itself.I have an old RSC Bass Regent 50w that I have had since the 70s.

These were kits available in the UK, 2xEL34, 1x GZ34, 1xEF86, 2xECC83. It is a mess, so I thought about using the PT and maybe the OT for a 50w combo build.
Silver CE chassis (when available), or maybe one of the Asian ones, silver knobs and a combo cab NOT in blonde Tolex
Any suggestions/ ideas please throw them into the ring
