Big Bottle Liverpool?

Post by Gibsonman63 »

Has anyone built one? I have been researching a bit and contemplating the next build. I have seen a lot of threads on big bottle rockets but nothing on big bottle Liverpools.

I have been studying Dana Halls threads on the Pegasus (two channel Rocket/Liverpool amp) and thinking that may be fun with EL34s or KT66s.

The Liverpool and the Express share pretty much the same preamp circuit so if you built a liverpool with larger bottles you would have an Express.

Interesting. I built a Liverpool and an Express so far and they are entirely different animals, but both very cool in thier own ways.

Save for the PI differences and the preferred R7 value.

Slightly off topic (but somewhat related), have any of you ever done a Liverpool with Fixed Bias?

Yes there is slight difference to tone board, and the Liverpool has EL84s with split load bias. If you built a Liverpool with Octal power section it would be an Express.

I build a 15 watt Liverpool combo with fixed bias. I think it gives it little better response.

Nice. Thanks Dana. It's a fairly simple matter to test, but just wondered if others have tried it. I have a tube rectified Liverpool running cathode bias and it sounds killer (it's running about 45W) but have been thinking about giving fixed bias a shot.
