Light hum. Use the Fonzie technique, back in business....
Only happens when the amp if right side up in the shell. Making me insane (er than I have been professionally evaluated to be)
You can't help. I just need a hug. haha. I am losing what is left of my mind. I need to go ahead and make out a will leaving this amp to my ex. I hope she has as much fun with it as I have.
Shiver me timbers and stuff. Ahoy. I want a chocolate chip cookie for some reason.
I bet it's not around the cathode where I have been focusing. I bet it's at v1 socket. Tomorrow is another chance at fame. I live in a town without bell towers. Darn.

Re: Arrrrgh! Grounding issue makes me into a pirate!
My 50wt plexi mule with the worst preamp tubes I had on hand.. hey wait, I wonder.. I can't remember when this first started.. before or after I swapped these pieces of barely viable dog crap in.
The actual failure is a volume drop perceived to be only partial connection at a cathode accompanied by a marginal hum. I have to isolate the amp from a cabinet, or it starts kicking in with the PPIMV at about 4. Haaaay... (thump) Heyyyyy..
I need to check it with the tubes replaced, then I need to break the cascade, check if it's in both channels, and if it is then I need to lift the board and go to the ground end with an iron.. that is unless someone has a better idea. These are probably the hardest things to track down, I imagine? Seems so!
I didn't build this amp, I rebuilt it about 4 times to learn, and it's teaching me a thing or two. And how! Everyday is another class.
Next class: higher filtering. Damn this thing is as loose as baby poop. I can't figure out how other people get away with this setup, unless they are keeping the master below about 3.

Poor speaker jack. Nobody loves you. (you annoying piece of plastic crap!)

I can sleep again. I think I found a possible reason a tube might not last so long as well. Back to the good stuff.
