Joe Bonamassa playing a dumble...
So I was reading over on Joe Bonamassa's forum about a small gig he played the other night in CA.
He used ODS #104, made in 1981 as one of his amps for the show. One person stated that it was his, not borrowed.
One person posted a few pictures, including this one:

Hmm, Robbens is #102, I wonder if it was updated to Skyline spec's. Joe B.'s really starting to have a serious collection of rare amps and guitars. a 1959 Les Paul Burst, a Dumble, whats next.....
Hmm the clip sounds killer though. Beth Hart is really a great singer too. Nice tribute to Etta James (RIP).

That is a really industrial looking face-frame. Anyone else seen that before? Doesn't look like it needs wooden panel cleats behind it if it just screws into the sides of the cab. sh

Wow - I don't feel so bad about my GAS affliction.
Kinda puts it in perspective.
And gives me something to aim for

On the attached pictures you see the design principle of all the cabinets for all the ODS amps from the 1st generation up to 4th generation - including #0104. AFAIK the only exceptions are the cabinets of the amps exported to Euope and made by the two European distributors.Luthierwnc wrote:That is a really industrial looking face-frame. You know how it is Tom, product endorsements, makes as much money (if not more) than playing gigs. Good source of retirement income too, keeps the money coming in from merchandise sales.
Clapton has now his own endorsed L.P. although we all know that he has been playing his Strat(s) for decades.
Joe B. has his own endorsed L.P., maybe he's looking to have his own endorsed Strat or Tele.

Re: Joe Bonamassa playing a dumble...
That would be interesting to see happen considering all of the hoopla going down over FCS's supposed use of JB's sparkle strat as a model for their sparkle strat. Apparently JB got all kinds of of bent out of shape over that, boxed the original, then sold it and swore off of fender for ever..alvarezh wrote:You know how it is Tom, product endorsements, makes as much money (if not more) than playing gigs. This is exactly how I build my Dumble cabs. On the non-crossbar cabs sometimes I will use some spacers between the cleats and the grille to allow for some extra wiggle room for the aluminum. On one of original cabs I've seen in person the aluminum strip has sat just a hair forward of the grille.
The question i have is when to use 1/2" and when to use 3/4" trim. I just did a clone of #123 (bottom mount) and used 1/2", I think 3/4" looks better for top mount since you can see more of the metal.
