coil cut on epi HB

Post by angelodp »

Hi on this Epi HB does that red wire look like the jumper to the coils? I want to do a coil cut and run a shielded wire up to the juncture. I know its kind of funky way to do this. Its cheapo unit and just having fun with my grandson.

Not sure by sight only, if you have a meter you can measure resistance and determine which one is the coil tap.

Given that the pickup is made up of two coils wired in series, and the black and white wires are the output of the current arrangement (if I'm seeing it right), then the red wire has to be the connection between the two coils.

Seems, so. Its one of those single wire jobs ( shielded wire ) so the connection between the coils is not broken out, like a 4 conductor job. I have done something like this before where I tapped into the coil bridge wire and made the extra runs.

ThanK guys.
