Just thought i,d give you folks a peek at my new project after a few evenings work, at the moment the 12 v relay power board is in situ as well as the power transformer(thats what you call heavy metal
) i,ve started work on the power section while i wait for a face plate and a few bits to arrive.

Holy mackerel, look at the shafts on those pots!
Life is a tale told by an idiot -- full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

I'd leave 'em like that. It'll make it easier to adjust the back-line from the front of the stage ...... just reach around .... voila!

Looks nice!
Do you have DC to the heaters? Looks like you didn't twist the wires?

Ok fols had a good push this week end and got it up and running prety much without incident, my first impression is the dirt channel does,nt have as much gain as i anticipated, having a check around it appears this amp is,nt really designed for it, if anyone could make a suggestion for increasing the gain i would be interested, more pics to follow in a few days

There's about a 300 page or so thread over at Metro amp. Here's a link to the page with some layouts and schematics:

Do you have any tubescreamer or overdrive type pedals?
You probably just need to goose the input a bit.

Yeah, ,i've got a Lovepedal Kanji, sounds pretty impressive, i had a chance to wind it up a bit today(no nieghbours or wife) and once you crank it up a bit its got a fair bit of gain, pretty close to a jcm, just got to sort the channel switching and the Preamp lift for the clean channel.Structo wrote:Do you have any tubescreamer or overdrive type pedals?

Effects loop should be in tomorrow, just got to decide if its worth fitting a dumblator type circuit minus the bright switchs.
Re: Modified Marshall style 36
Latest pics from the amp, nearly finished now, just a tidy up and a tweak before it goes in its shell[/img]

Re: Modified Marshall style 36
Quick update for those who have been kind enough to chip in with various bits of help, i played around with a gain stage in place of the cathode follower, not a good move
afetr reinstating the cathode follower i changed the supply resistors from 100k to 22o wiyth the appriate cathode resistor and added some tropical 2 uf bypass caps , got a fair bit more gain and so far i,m liking it, scored a Marshall Celestion for pennys on evilbay
i suspect it will compliment this circuit mre than my RCF cab which is normally paired with my D clone
