First stage on Tube 1B

Post by sabredude »

I've seen several designs where the guitar input goes first to the 1B side of the first preamp tube and then to the 1A side rather than the traditional method of using 1a then 1b. I also recall hearing somebody once say that it sounded better that way.
Anybody have any experience with that? Is it mythology? Is there any technical reason to do this? Aren't the two sides just a mirror image of each other?

it's just whatever is convenient given how you orient the tubes.

All triodes are created equal. It's man that screws them up. Or, is that religion.
