I,ve got a working Laney chassis with 4 el84s , a 30 watt output trannie and a toroidal mains tranny that belts out about 330 rectified 220 unrectified, loads of usefull parts,
I need a bit of inspiration on where to tacke it, el 84,s sugeest something with a marshall taste but is the trannie man enough for the job
All suggestions gratefully recieved
Well you could build a 18 watt style amp accept use the 4 x EL84 output.
Be aware you need to use a different output transformer but the one that came with the Laney might work.

If it works I would just concentrate on changing up the circuit to your liking.
its a bit of a winter project, stacks of corrosion on the board, scratchy pots etc(it had been stored in a garage) and in fairness it may be based on a marshall but it sounds like crud, even through my rcf powered cab which makes anything sound good
There is a 36W design based on the Marshall 18W. If you aren't a member of the 18W forum, I can find the schematic for you. Rip out what's there, keep what's useful. Build another amp in it's place. If you have a good chassis and iron, you are more than half way there in terms of cost. IMO, it's just begging for the 36W, which is a 4x EL84 design.
