I find some of the preamp kits as well as Kevin's amps interesting, but there doesn't seem to be any clips of his amps, preamp kits, or power amp kits. I am especially interested in the GMX kit. Would love to get the sound of a 100 watt amp from a 50 watt or less.
Anyone have experience with any of his stuff? It seems odd that an amp builder would not have clips.

London Power Clips?

Re: London Power Clips?
Lefty, gmx has had some very good response from a few techs that have played with it. There was a tech in London CA, Dante Carrer who owned Island amps who did use a lot of KOC's methods with great success. Unfortunately Dante's Island Amp web site has been inactive for sometime - I guess he is either too busy or on hiatus. The only reason I mentioned Dante is that he would post sound clips from time to time that sounded great.
I own all of KOC's Tut books and can vouch that his designs do work. I have purchased his power scaling kits etc, but have not dabbled in gmx yet, besides his plexi 5100 detailed in tut 3. Jump over to powerscaling.com , there has been some discussion over there regarding gmx.
Maybe Steve - Renshen will chime in, I think he may have played with gmx a bit too....
You are correct, there does not seem to be a lot of clips out there....
Good luck,
John

Re: London Power Clips?
I have TUT and TUT3, and hope to get the rest of the series.
How did you like the 5100?

Re: London Power Clips?
The 5100 is a fairly cool build. The design from powerscaling.com uses the "cascaded" front end ala switchable jcm 800 style pre amp with the improved bootstrapped MV which I believe is a different design than that shown in TUT3 (I don't have TUT3 in front of me). I like a little more gain than the straight plexi offers and I have always modded / cascaded my bassmans similarly.
2 6v6's can sound mushy, a quad is fast (It sounds good running 4 x 6v6 full time) and will do the marshall thing nicely. What was really cool was to run 2 6v6's and 2 6l6's simultaneously, for a heavy bottom and smooth top. IIRC the 272JX power transformer would run around 425 on the 4 x 6v6 plates with power scaling defeated.
I truly am interested in the gmx method, to either get the tone and feel of KT88's or 6550's from smaller, less expensive and more readily available glass (EL34 or 6l6) at the twist of a pot. I would like to try this with a splawn type pre but am a little short on time and funds right now. Hopefully this winter I can get things in order to attempt gmx.
Good luck, John
