Dumble ODS Reverb #0137

Post by boldaslove6789 »

Just seen this Dumble ODS 120w Reverb on Rob Livesey's site.

Anybody got any info on this amp? Looks like a really cool amp.

Also, if you look at the back you'll see that this amp was used with a D-lator as the effects send/return has tape on it indicating loop use

I'm trying to figure out what color that suede is.

I think the bottom picture is probably the closest.

Probably a tan or tan/ yellow color.

What does the wattage say? 120w?

Woops yes it says 120w. So I wonder what trafo and tube config would yield 120w?

In Dumble's price pamflet from the 90's it says that the ODS was offered in the following wattage options:

50w
100w
120w
150w

Well the 6L6GC has a published maximum output of 30w each so that would make 4x 6L6GC 120w.

But most amps only claim 100w to be more realistic with the voltages and currents being less than max.

This one has a separate reverb level for the Clean and Overdrive, as opposed to the normal reverb Send and Return levels on the SSS and other ODSRs. Interesting, anyone know who this amp was built for?

Must be from the same era as this SSS (late Serial # SSS, recently for sale for over 100K, AFAIK was built for SRV but never delivered +):

I recently got some mint green suede to match up to some of the green Dumbles and as ugly as it sounds it is jaw droppingly beautiful. I have a 1x12 I covered in it today and its going in my stable. I will post when it is complete

Cool amp bold, I would like to see how he put reverb in the circuit? Fender style I assume

Hy Taylor, give us a picture with sunlight, with the flash it looks kind of blueish, at least that's my case.

What type and brand of glue do you use on Tolex and what type/brand for Suede?

Thanks in advance.

Most likely the Verb uses 3 tubes. This amp probably has a post OD reverb too as the original pre OD reverb was very unmusical to say the least. Reverberated overdrive is unique but it just makes sence to have it post od, post effects loop, pre PI.

It is a little bluish. Once I have the baffle built and the hardware installed I will get some good outdoor pics. Its too wet here today to take the suede outside!

I use real leather hides, garment thickness suede, applied with water based contact cement. Its tricky and you have to be careful not to make a mess, but the combo has proven itself many times.

I was looking at some Two Rock amps and the Overdrive Sig 100 has six preamp tubes.
Three of which are used for reverb.

Thanks Taylor for the info, I presume you use the same glue on Tolex.

Yep, first winter storm in the N.E., good thing you did not loose power.

Get the shovel ready, looks like it's going to be a long winter.

Thanks again.
