This is just a dry fit to test the jig, no glue on these.

It's actually about 8.5 lbs., so not super heavy. Plays like a dream.

Getting closer.

All the doves are cut. This is not glued yet, just banged together with my size 9. The top panel of the speaker cab has a quick wipe of oil. I'm going to seal all the outside surfaces with a wipe of oil before i glue it up to minimise any stains from glue.

This will hold a single 12.

Not sure what I'm going to do with front baffel. For starters its going to be sealed, but I also want to try a Fender type tone ring front.

More progress next weekend.

Slight miscalculation, the amp didn't fit in. Had to make a little clearence in the sides.

I made the handles only partway in so you can't pick it up with just one hand. When you carry an amp with one hand you swing it as you walk, and bump things. This can only be carried with 2 hands. You are forced to think about what you are doing.

Have to be carefiul with the router. Also test your hand plane on some scraps first. You may need a different angle.

I used a thin piece of wood behind the work to help prevent blowouts as the bit left the work. I also rough cut first with a straight but before I used the dovetail cutter.

I try not to climb cut, it makes the router grab.

Really though, the wood isn't what messes me up, its ME.

I glued and clamped on side to the bottom, and then glued and clamped the other. As I was preparing to put the top panel on, I looked..."Why is the handle on top on this side, and bottom on the other?" Yeah. Caught it in time and reversed the panel.

Mark the edge of every joint inside the box. A, B, C, D. Make sure you match up your letters properly as you go to glue.

With dovetails The jig references one side of the board, soi there is a difference between rotating, or flipping the board to do the other side. Once I had the doves cut I hold the corners together, and pencil mark where the tails get cut. This helps you to see if something is very wrong when you put it in the jig and up to the template.

I do this for fun. When it starts to feel like work, I stop. Thats exactly when you will either hurt yourself, or worse, ruin the piece.

Started oiling the speaker cab. Oil is like LSD for wood, all the color!

Too humid here to get an farther on the finish. At this rate it'll be at least next week before I can oil it again.

I made some tabs and mounted the faceplate. Bottom plate is just taped in place.
