Attenuator as Dummy Load
I am ordering up some stuff right now to build a DIY attenuator and am wondering if I wanted to also have it function as a dummy load, could i just short the attenuator's speaker output jack to ground (tip to sleeve) with a switch (heavy duty amp mains on/off), and hook up any additional resistance between that switch back to the attenuator's input jack ground lug from the amp, so the amp is seeing resistance back to its ground?
Re: Attenuator as Dummy Load
Yes surfsup I do believe you can do that...

LOL whut...yeah sometimes we're a bit slow.
Cut us a break it's Friday!
Will it work?

Re: Attenuator as Dummy Load
Well, if you ask me or surfsup, seems we're both on the same page here that it should work fine. I ordered it all up. Apexjr has 50watt 50ohm dividohm resistors for $1.00 so i ordered a couple of those to run in parallel. Also got a 6ohm 25w cement from him too. I had to go to mouser for some other stuff, but i think i can build this with an enclosure for about $50 (not incl. shipping). I hope to have it all next weekend when i return from work.

Looking forward to it surf.
