Need Twin Reverb direction or what to use empty Twin cab for

Post by azatplayer »

I picked up an empty twin reverb 2x12 the other day for some reason..
I cant say i need an 85watt amp, but with my recent thought on doing something D style, i thought maybe the combo could be cool. Or perhaps do a super reverb in it @ half the output.
Ive yet to do a reverb amp, done a few trem circuits but no verb as yet.
Wondering what to use it for. Its in ok shape, i could leave it as is and not be anal about gigging it which is cool. I have a tweed 2x12 as well thats pretty..tho it gets gigged when i need the clean power.
Its cutout is blackface twin sizing, thats a friggin long chassis.
Any clues on wheres best to get a twin chassis? I recall seeing Mark Fowler do a Komet in a fender chassis of some sort, so im open to ideas.

I kinda had BFDR in my mind when i saw it, had a hankering to build one since i saw a guy gigging an original 1x12, bloody great amp.
The BFDR chassis is 2inch shorter tho, which means i either fabricate one or use a twin chassis and make a plate for the PT to mount in?
Vibrverb could be nice too.

I guess other than opinions on what to do, im chasing some chassis info ;)

Don, I have two Fender Twin Reverb projects right now both heads.

You can get Twin Reverb chassis from www.Mojotone.com and www.Marshamps.com not sure if they are both made by mojo or not. I think there is a supplier in EU as well.

I built a Komet 60 into a Mojo BF Bassman chassis.

Cheers Mark. I think i will end up making one as usual..
Been giving some thought to an octal rocket reverb using 7591A's. Could be a good power level, and ive read they sound more EL34ish than 6L6ish, which i would like. Got trannies too.

I think the top of the chassis is just 1 inch shorter then the bottom to equal the fender slant angle. I had a guy build me three custom Fender slant chassis one Super Reverb and two are 19 inchs to fit the Fender solid state Deluxe 90 combo cabs. He longer builds chassis though.

For other builders, there is a guy in Canada that makes them but he bolts the chassis together which could be welded or rivoted.

Sounds like a great project Don. I am going to convert my silverface Super Reverb 4x10 cab into an Allen amps circuit since the original SR has been modded and in a head cabinet right now.
