Yes, it's hooked up as a pentode

This is very true. I went through about 2 doz Used and NOS 6sj7s that were ALL microphonic to some extent. I fnally settled on a new Sovtek reproduction (Metal cas not glass). I am sure you will have the same problems with the new production tubes. It's a pain finding "the one" that works. Same thing with the 6sl7. If you keep the gain down on the new Sovteks they seem to work a little better so I would recomend a 6sl7 in say a Boogie or Soldano circuit :lol: These are great sounding tubes and they are very fun to play with and offer a distinct sound over the 9 pins

Can you ever have enough tubes? :lol: Most of the sensitivity in my experience has to do a lot with the way the tube is used and the circuit it is in.

that's a great sounding amp. i want to experiment with parallel SE. any good diagrams to help get me started? is it as simple as it sounds to hook up? thanks. jmac
