My 124 build and a strat... another video clip

Post by Chris Brown »

Here's another video of my 124 build... The mid cap is .03uf. Kleinulator with a rebote 2.5 style delay. One tube reverb.

http://youtu.be/3qI66dgrml8

The vid is actually supposed to be a pickup demo but it's a great representation of the amp other than the slight camera distortion with pab engaged.

If any other 124 cloners that play stratocasters could chime in I'd like to know about any similarities or differences... mine is the only one I've played so I'm totally curious.

Great strat sounds, I might have to check out those pickups. Oh and the amp sounds great too.

Have built (2) amps for a local bluesplayer w/those p/ups, man i couldn`t blv how geat they were, he also got a set in a les paul that were OUTRAGEOUS! Koodos to that guy for sure, they are a secret tone weapon! Blv they ousted the ones from R Martinez to ny ears!

What kind of speakers? Weight? I'm looking at a twin size combo. Do you use the tilt-legs gigging? Sounds nice!

Thanks, Erik

Thanks everyone!

Yeah those pickups are awesome. I have his SP set and also his SVL set which is like a 60s style strat set but with a baseplate on the bridge which I really like but the SP's hotter output makes them a great match with this amp... I might ask him to make me a sp bridge pickup with a baseplate to match this set.

The amp weighs around 60lbs. One side has a wgs et65 while the other has a jensen c12k which is nice and flat in fender amps but seems a little harsh with the od channel in this amp. I haven't decided what to replace the jensen with.. probably another 1265 type speaker.

I use the tilt back legs because I'm always miked. It helps keep the sound guys from complaining about volume. I've been tilting my amps for a long time so now on the rare occasion that I'm not miked and I don't tilt the amp I feel like I lose a little bit of the amp to guitar "talk" that I'm used to. The only con is that I have to put a little fan pointing into the back of the amp when it's kicked back or else the heat builds up pretty quickly.
