What gets sold for $$$$ on eBait - a wiring harness

Post by Phil_S »

For reasons I can't explain, this one just got under my skin.

At retail, the parts cost is maybe $5-$6. Besides, what numnuts builds his own cab but can't roll his own wiring? What people will go for. Real life is stranger than fiction. This wouldn't have bothered me if it was directed at the audiophool market, but this is clearly guitar oriented.

Some people think there is an answer when there isn't a problem.

Phil you have to think about the typical guitarist. We at TAG are all technically minded people who know that such a wiring harness can be built for a few bucks. But for the person who has NO IDEA what is happening electronically inside of their amp, prewired harnesses might be a godsend.

It is cheaper than buying a decent soldering iron and a roll of good solder.

Actually I know a lot of great wood workers that just don't have the first clue about wiring and get scared. It's not that absord of a price. If you factor in $5-6 in parts and 10 minutes to snip, crimp, and solder together, $16 is about right. You know dang well it would be $100 at a local Guitar Center ;) and made by Peavey and marketed as Monster. I agree it's common sense, but so is using your turn signal when you drive. Just count how many times a day those aren't used. Idiots make up the majority, so never under estimate the stupidity of the consumer. I'm surprised the cables are Red and Black and not some flashy color with a claim of how the color makes your speaker better.

If it makes you feel better he does say they will 'last forever'...maybe there is magic involved

He doesn't have any sales for these in his feedback history.

There are a lot of people that really don't understand how to wire the simplest stereo. Soldering is tough to learn too! Not that I am defending this...
