oscilloscope max voltage question

Post by surfsup »

I'm looking at an oscilloscope and for input voltage, there are several stats listed:

Zaxis input: 30V (DC+PeakAC)
Vertical Deflection: Direct: 250V (DC+Peak AC)
Trigger System: 250V (DC+PeakAC)

With amps running 400-500V, I am assuming vertical deflection is what I'm looking at and at 250V this is not going to cut it?

I use x10 probes - 500V measured = 50V deflection.
For lower voltages just flip the probe switch to X1.
Not cheap but necesary.
