I just got an old weird looking amp from my work mate who salvaged it from the trash bin. Its tube rectified 2 x EL84 amp with a ecc83 and ef86. All tubes are philips. The transformers seems to be in good condition (had only a quick look on this). http://mattitee.kuvat.fi/kuvat/old+tube+amp/

I also got another thing from same person. It seems to be a heart-beat-drawing-machine (don't know the word here). It has tubes in it and the box is very cool/vintage looking. I'll post pics asap.

Most likely a patient simulator. It generates simulated QRS complexes to test and troubleshoot medical equipment.

I think that would be an electrocardiograph. A polygraph is a "lie detector," no? The amp is probably a Hi-Fi.

One of my best finds ever was 16 brand new smooth plate Tele 12AX7s. The boxes were all marked Grass Equipment Co., a maker of polygraphs. Whether this includes the lie/truth kind I dunno, but these were part of the stash of a hospital equipment technician.

When you need a rock steady bridge circuit, Tele was the way to go.

Nice score. I love the "hammered" look on the faceplate with a gold-ish finish to it. That would look awesome with a cream or black headcab with gold piping.

Yeah, that front panel is very cool looking.

I would fix it up and see what it sounds like.

Be sure to check the E caps and make sure it has a ground power cord.
And of course be sure to have a speaker load connected if and when you power it up.

If you want to see if the E caps will work you should reform them by using a Variac and bring the voltage up slowly.
