K50 build, using Dana's switcher, Concorde cap mod value?

Post by azatplayer »

Im in the midst of a Concorde build and have got Dana's switching board.
As it has the .1uf cap as spec on the board, well a pair of them, im thinking of subbing in the .01uf cap for the fast position.
Seems like its a standard mod for this amp to lower that cap, but only on the fast side when it gets flubby when pushing hard.
What ive gleaned is that on the gradual side the .1 is sweet.
So, figured perfect situation to be using different value caps on each spot, added bonus feature of the switcher!
So any concorde owners care to chime in with that cap mod for the fast position? Is .01 the go?
Cheers Don

Ahh just found a post where .0022 is recommended.

Hmm, the .0022 makes for some serious cut. Great singing lead tone, and prolly perfect with the rise in volume as a boost for solos, but it does loose a tonne of bottom end.
Ive tried .01 there and it retains more bottom, but the pushed tone does end up a little loose. Will throw a .0047 in there and be done with it i reckon.

Yep i was thinking 6800 would be a good value Roe. I put a styrene 4700 in last nite, sounds really good. I just love styrene caps. I have some big values coming in the mail, will swap out the .1 gradual side of the switch for a styrene when they come. Just seem to be more open and uncoloured.
I think a K60 with Knopfler mods is next.
