Carvin X100 amp as a donor for a dumble-type ODS Good Bad ?

Post by chopstuck »

I have a newer Carvin 100w XV-112. Four EL -34s probably early 90's. Good amp OK sterile clean Gorilla type distortion- read - bad. The amp is like new. I put it on Craigs list for $280 and haven't got a bite. Now I may be able To use The PT OT chassis, speaker and cabinet. The Panel layout is similar minus the EQ of course. Anyone think that the value of the parts for a build is more that the $250 I may be able to get for the working amp ?

It's been done before:

Seeing that you have EL34s you could make a "183"

Not actually knowing about the insertion loss, did you want to think about using the EQ instead of the post-OD tone stack?

Plan would be to start fresh and gut the PCB.

One Beeeg PCB.
