Hi.. have you built a Wreck style cab yet?
If so post a picture.. I would be interested to see how it looks.
The problem I found in building really nice hardwood Wreck style cabs, or any style of hardwood cab for that matter, is the time and effort it takes to make them great means they are going to be expensive..
That is unless you are willing to work for minimum wage.. and honestly that is something I am just not going to do.
If you are going to build a basic cab and then cover it with tolex you can keep the cost down.. but a nicely figured hardwood cab will show every blemish so needless to say attention to detail is mandatory.
Most builders I know who have the skills to do exceptional hardwood cabs only build them as a hobby or occasionally for a friend.
This is where you can really take your time and build masterpieces..
If you have the skills it is definitely rewarding to do heirloom type of pieces, but don't expect to get rich building hardwood cabs.
I always think it is ironic when you spend 12 to 15 hours on a cab from start to finish, plus have $100 to $200 invested in materials, and someone expects you to sell it for less than $200

Just food for thought...

I've been in kind of a carpentry mood lately, and I was wondering if I was to whip up some headcabs made pretty much to origional specs, would people buy them? I have a lot of tools, and I hate to see them sitting idle.
Just trying to see If anyone would be interested. I just read a thread where a guy had a Rocket and no cab. This might be a project done this fall if anyone is interested. These would be figured Cherry cabinets.
