Switches

Post by rawnster »

I've got a build in process where I'm retrofitting/reusing a chassis. The recto hole (please no dirty thoughts) :)... is positioned too close to the power switch. They almost hit each other. I can get around the problem simply by using a fender-type switch like this: http://www.tubedepot.com/p-110-63.html . However, they're only rated for 6A@ 125VAC. I'd like to use a higher rated switch. Does anyone know of a switch shaped like the fender-type but has a higher VAC/Amperage rating, and where I could get it?

Thanks in advance!

Not if you want a Carling. Switches of that shape only come in a 5-6A rating. If this is for a standby switch I've used lesser switches on 50W amps. As long as the peak current is much less than half of the switches rating (I like a 5x current rating for SB switches) then it shouldn't be a problem. Even though they are made in Mexico now Carling still produces a good, sturdy switch.

The switch would be used for the power. The circuit and voltage is in the deluxe reverb (AB763) area. 330VAC or so hitting the recto.

I think that's more than adequate. I've never had a Carling die on me FWIW, even the stomp switches.
