Lord Valve says in his catalog that he was told by Mike Mathews (thanks stevlech) that they were designed to take up to 500V. I run a piar at 450 with no problems. TJ

Mike Matthews is in fact the owner of Electro Harmonix/Sovtek/New Sensor. Just thought I'd mention it. :)

someone told me that there different type of sovteks, and some could take up to 450 volts, but some (black from inside) will blow at those voltages, that's the reason i'm asking this here. So it's safe to go with a 325+325 transformer with EHs...thanks for the replies.
Any opinions on tone?. this are the only two types i can find in here...what's best?.

I have built several amps using the JJ 6V6's have even done several 4X 6V type amps all using around 450 on the plates and in my opinion does not sound that good. Ive found that they dont clean up very well and when you start to push them there is this wierd buzzing like way in the bcakground. My advice is to get the plate voltage down around 375/400 or so more like in the Deluxe Reverb range. JMO. :P
