50K bias pot, blue ones?

Post by azatplayer »

Having a look at a couple a Komet builds and see these blue bias pots down by the power tubes. Im using pecs in my K50 build and had a 25K pot on hand to use but see i need a 50K. DOes anyone have any info on the pot used?
Are they locking?
I know the original amp has a 10 turn flash pot, im tipping theyre expensive..

Is the knob part of the pot or standalone part?

It's separate, and almost twice the cost of the pot. Useful if you like tube swapping because you can quickly get back to the right bias setting for a given set of tubes without getting the meter out. Mouser has it : http://www.mouser.com/search/ProductDet ... G22L-1%2f4

I think the locking knob was $25 from Mouser when I bought one and I bought four Bourns pots off ebay.

I found a locking dial locally on element for 18 dollars, the pot was the same money. Looks similar tho only 10 turns on the pot and 15 on the dial.
36 bucks for a trimpot...
So the K50 is basically KF's EL34 only design right? Where the K60 is designed to take whatever tubes?
My K50 is gonna get a variety, i LOVE rollin tubes!

I got a 50K ten turn Bourns pot for $14 and the Kilo Int'l locking scale dial for $9 at Nebraska Surplus. I think the url is surplussupply.com or something like that.

Actually the part is a 10 turn wirewound pot 2W 50K 5%
not 20 turn like I stated. I should never go by memory on parts I use so seldom.

Thanks for that tip, haven't looked at that site in a long time. Here is the page with all the turns counting dials, locking and otherwise :
