Yeah I just decided to start on mine and see what I come up with.

It will be nothing like the original but still fun to build and a loud mutha! 8)

I don't think anyone is building a true clone anyway from what I can gather.

I don't know, have you seen a gut shot? :)

The SSS used thick PCB boards and through board wiring with tube sockets directly bolted to the chassis.

actually thats a good point, you'd think with the number of hi plain drifters being produced, SOMEONE would have drawn it up...

I bet that info about the HPD has been kept quiet here out of respect for Brandon and his massive contributions to the forum. I like to think that someday such info will be made public (Brandon?) just like the #102 or #183 specs were.

Until that day comes... It's all just speculation.

Jelle is building a SSS, I've seen photo's of the amp he examined. If you're lucky enough to get inside one you pretty much know it all.

Yeah, Brandon has always seemed like a decent, kind hearted bloke. Too bad he's so busy making tonnes of $$ building amps! (well, bad for us haha...)

Probably not a good first project. I'm sure we would all like to see the sections you have, maybe someone can fill in the gaps. If you are really serious about this, Brandon already basically gave us the recipe for it - do a forum search and you will find it - twin reverb pre, RDH4 filters, SVT power section, or something like that if I recall correctly.

The idea of a forum like this one is that we all share information and ideas with each other. If all the good stuff was only going on behind the scenes in PMs, then what would be the point ?

paraphrased:

Use a low plate skyline clean section, into AB763 reverb, and ditch the trem and use that socket for the PI, Use the PI socket for an ampeg style driver section and you'll have the goods

all SSS I know of have the 7025 PI and the 7025 Driver

Skyliner =

.1 uF bass cap
.01uF Mid cap
330pf treble cap
mid switch
250KA treble pot
500KA bass pot with .001uF cap
250KA middle pot

Hi,

well actually that was drawn by my humble self and shows the "Pentode Amp" = Dumbleland in Silver Alligator Tolex.

I think Jelle built an amp based on this schemo and liked it (Jelle, maybe you want to chime in?).

Cheers,

Electron
