G-10/FR4 board material

Post by Colossal »

Does anyone have a part number for McMaster-Carr for G-10/FR4 1/8" board material that is for the *natural* colored board? I have looked for it on the website and they list "Opaque" as a property, but I want to be sure that I am getting the exact material I am looking for. They don't list any G-10/FR4 as "natural". I've enclosed a photo of the color I am referring to.

Thanks in advance for any help.

To me, your board looks white in the pic. You referring to the light green color many use? My pic shows Mcmaster's "green" G-10/FR4. I believe this was cut from part #8557K142. I think this is what most consider "natural"???

Green garolite is the natural color selection from my experience with it.

Dynaman and Mark,

Yes, the "natural" material does have a greenish cast to it. It is definitely not white but appears that way in the photo I posted (from turretboards.com).

Dynaman, indeed part number 8557K142 is what I came up with myself when I was drilling down through McMaster. I was a bit worried though that I would get a bright green board, not the translucent whitish-green board that I wanted. If you ordered 8557K142 and got what is shown in your photo (killer build by the way -- very neat!), then that is the material I am indeed looking for!

Just wanted to get some backup on this before I ordered a sheet. Thanks a lot for the responses guys; I appreciate it. I'll order some of that material then. Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

Note that McMaster's "brownish-green" G-10/FR4 is identical in color except that it has a matte finish and is cheaper than the other colors. A 24" X 12" sheet costs $25.10.

Yeah that Dynaman is a sick individual with those nice clean layouts and excellent builds  :)

I'm more the Sloppy Joe type, kick the amp around a little and drop her a few times and then bolt it in the cab. Gets that distressed look. :)

Lol, I have to put in a bit of effort on the inside cuz the outside of my amps generally look like rubbish.

Very nice Dynaman! I love the discrete layout; very clean and a work of art in itself!

As a followup to this story, I just received my board material from McMaster. It is part number 8557K182 and is indeed green/natural-clearish.
