Re: K50 or K60?
Ahh two of my favorite amp builders! K50 it is!!
What caps and resistors are the go on these builds? Did i see mallorys in them?
You think sosos would be ok? I stocked up on them MF's that Conrad sell as well, be ok?
Just placed the order for the trannie set, here we go!

Polyester caps go in the K50. Komet uses Mallory 150s although Sozos would be fine and probably would sound more detailed while retaining the nice polyester warm-fuzzy smear on the edge of the note. I would use MFs throughout. The OT primary for the K50 is 4k3 where the K60 is 5k3. The K50 is solid state rectified though vs. tube rectified in the K60.azatplayer wrote:Ahh two of my favorite amp builders! K50 it is!!

Here is how Allyn did his K50 and he knows how to build these amps.
Yeah it would be a good idea to go with MF and Mallory 150's I believe.
Sozo would be good as well if you can get them.
Had to rub that in.
like Dave said K50 4k8 OT and solid state rectified.

Re: K50 or K60?
I think the Beyschlag resistors would work great in this build (as also I think Sozos) based on my experience of them in very high gain Marshall-style applications.

Nice! K50 with sozos and beyschlags it is! Mark I've ordered one of Danas nice switches for it too, and I'm gonna vvr it to get down to that sweet 400v range more than going lower, I got lo power amps for that. Now I'm in two minds whether to go fully cloned or use one of my own chassis and alter the layout. Could be cool to have a real looking thing, tho cheaper to use what I have. Is anyone doing chassis?

Re: K50 or K60?
Is the PT hes using in that, the spec'd one? Z mount?
That what the heyboer is?
That what the heyboer is?
Re: K50 or K60?
That's the correct spec transformer, mounted as in the originals.
Heyboer would almost certainly be able to supply different endbells if you wanted a standup though.

Re: K50 or K60?
Yes the Heyboer K50 PT is lay down style.

Re: K50 or K60?
Decided on my own chassis, and using a standup PT. Getting heyboer to hammertone them and use the L brackets like the merc stuff. Something different for a change!
