Bruno?

Ha!

That was something I just threw out there because it looked like a photo we all had seen before.

Instead of seeing how fast you can get something built, why not take your time and try to make it look good as well as sound good.
It's funny but many times those two things go together.

on page 146 of morgan jone's building valve amps.

"4. The preceding methods are two-dimensional. Interconnecting wire length can be further reduced if the assembly becomes three-dimensional. Components are now soldered directly to valve sockets and if necessary, to nearby stand- offs, or perhaps a tagstrip. This is potentially the best con- struction method, but it needs careful thought to keep the components even reasonably tidy and accessible for testing/ maintenance. Tagboards, tagstrips, and stand-offs are all useful ways of supporting components and joints insulated from earth.

At valve impedances, practical inductances are completely insig- nificant except in the 0V bus bar, so good layout in a valve amplifier requires low stray capacitances, and the best way of reducing capacitance between wires or components is to cross them at right angles. Capacitance to earth is minimised by short leads. One approach that is not immediately obvious is that sleeved wires have higher stray capacitance than self-supporting bare wires because er 􏰆 1. It is the combination of these requirements that forces component layouts that appear to have been thrown together by an avant-garde sculptor. We thus arrive at the sur- prising conclusion that a good component layout probably looks untidy, but the converse is unlikely to be true."

So how much do you have left to do before you feel it is ready to power up and play?
You know, without the wrench across your heaters

Waiting anxiously ( Be careful please )

gonna fire up the power amp right now.

the layout on the power amp is really really should not have been done that way but I'm kind of committed. I'll probably redo the wiring once I make sure the circuit works.

Just got done wiring it and going back and heatshrinking everything.

This is a joke, right?

No one builds like this on this forum, it is a center for excellence, where standards are higher than many boutique builders.

Yeah I know it's a free world and you can post what you like, but I can't believe anyone on here will take you seriously.

Sorry if this offends, but I would never show work like this, no matter how it good it sounds, unless I were trolling or completely crazy. I think the former.

There are many good people on here who put a countless hours into producing commercial quality electronics that you can reproduce at home.

You say it's an ODS style, but it is far from that, I'm afraid. Just a mess waiting for a fire extinguisher, as far as I can see.

Have a good look through the Dumble files and see what hard work and attention to detail will do, don't however look at UHOP's stuff, you WILL have a good cry then.

:D

Sorry buddy, I don't buy this so-called building.

oh I know. out of sight out of mind right?

The wires go under the board. I'll remember that next time. ;)

well that was easy.

aren't you still trying to get your inputs wired correctly soundperf? whoops my bad you're looking for slope resistors.

glass houses man glass houses.

all my recording gear is under a pile of other gear. laptop mic for the save.

I'm hardly here to troll and I find it a little confusing that people can get so agitated over how someone else is building an amp.

It does amplify the guitar.
Honestly, that clip reminded me of a Randall solid state amp that I used to play back in 1978.

Oh snap, Rat Amp made a funny.....sneaked it in there too.

I've seen rat bikes, rat rods and rat pistols, but this is a first, a rat guitar amp.

man if you ever had to play an amp that sounds like a laptop mic getting overloaded I feel bad for you.

I feel bad for you too, if you think that amp sounds like something close to a Dumble. Have fun.
