Sounds like you are very confident and I will leave it at that.
You can purchase fire extinguishers very cheap:)
No seriously you may be an electronics genius for all I know?
Continue with your prototype by all means!
If you have any questions along the way please ask here

I'm open to comments and suggestions of course. I just think that a comment like lead dress is really important isn't that helpful.T Wilcox wrote:Sounds like you are very confident and I will leave it at that.

Generally I think that if you don't compromise on your grounding scheme, and you don't compromise on your power supply, the rest is really hard to screw up.
Not that I haven't done some hilarious things of course. Left a wrench across my heaters. Yup. Connected electrolytics the wrong way? yup. but funny mistakes do happen.
Re: First ODS type build
I think he was using the term "lead dress" in a more general way here. Is there a reason why you're not laying anything out on a board of some sort? It tends to make for better work. Have you looked at some of the layouts over in the "Dumble Files" section? Proximity of compnents and wiring from one another can make a big difference in the final outcome.diagrammatiks wrote:I'm open to comments and suggestions of course. I'm by no means an expert or professional amp builder, but I can only surmise that the reason the pros here are not commenting is either becuase they think there's nothing wrong, or more likely totally flabergasted at the sight.

Re: First ODS type build
well it's different then most builds but I think it's hardly flabbergasting.
what's confusing?

one third of the way there.
now to shove a fender reverb circuit in the empty space in the middle.

I'm no pro either, but this I know and Clint Eastwood said it best.....SoundPerf wrote:

you'd be surprised how much you can learn by limiting yourself.ChrisM wrote:A normal build AcousticMirror, like this one?

kids used to build tube radios all the time and they didn't have nearly the resources we have now

Re: First ODS type build
Am I hallucinating or is that power light lit in that pic?
Ok lets hear some clips of these crazy looking creations of yours.

I can totally dig this attitude. And if this is/was the case, it does make the purpose a little clearer. It might have been good to clarify this when first posting to eliminate the confusion. I still would think that at some point gaduation beyond this would be good. Also, given the accepted philosophy about HAD designs, it is understandable that it would raise some eyebrows.ChrisM wrote:you'd be surprised how much you can learn by limiting yourself.

I would like to hear how it sounds sometime.
