Post by roknroll »

Just got this honey going, tweeked. Through a Dlator with alessis reverb
Marshall cab w g12t-75 speakers. Hamer studio with crossroads pickups from jim wagner
built into a mid 60's Traynor PA head. Converted to 100 watts with a Carvin output transformer I had laying around collecting dust.
thank you thank you to all those who came forth with info and schematics wow

Thanks for the kind words. I started the build about a year ago and the schematic available at the time had some different values then the one shown below. There were different pot values, maybe a resistor here and there and maybe a cap value especially the snubbers on V2. They were posted as 270 pf, the current schematic shows 250pf. I think the local negative feed back circuit was slightly different.
I had not worked on the amp for at least 6-8 months. It was tearing at me every day I looked at it, but didn't have the stick to itiveness required to see it through to the end. Finally one day I gave in and completed the amp but only after checking to see if the schematic had been updated on the Amp Garage. As it turns out the schematic was updated. So I made some of the changes but not all. I left the 270 snubbers as they were to hard a PIA to get to. Also the LNF resistor values I left at 44Meg instead of 40Meg. The PI balance pot is 20k. Otherwise everything is the same as the schematic above.
I did notice that there is a ground missing on the PAB slide switch on the back panel of the layout. The relay won't function manually without it.
The recording setup was very minimal. A Kodak Zi8 EIS HD camera sitting about 3 feet in front of the Marshall Cabinet.

Interesting take on the Ford amp.

You probably couldn't hear the difference between 270pf and 250pf snubbers anyway so you are good there.

Different way to wire the relays.
Not sure if you knew but you can use a 16 pin dual inline IC socket for the relays.
That way you can solder the socket in without fear of melting the relays.

But what really matters is where the rubber meets the road and your amp sounds good.

Don't let that smoke out!

Thanks for sharing Rok
After seeing the turret boards I figured you have some Marshall
experience and after checking your website....wow really nice clips
really like the CD and the BeeHandy clips
I understand the "stick to itiveness" or lack of for these builds...
sometimes for me...I walk away from a build to come back later
with more info and try again.

Keep Rockin

Nice sounding clips. Good job.
Must have been nice working with all that room in your chassis.
