Partsconnexion

Post by Structo »

Any of you ever ordered from PartsconneXion in Toronto before?
I placed a small order on 4/29 and received the email confirmation but nothing after that.

I ordered a handful of different brand resistors (PRP, Takman MF, Riken) and a couple caps.
They haven't charged me for it or sent anything further.
No reply to my emails as of yet.

Tom, I've ordered from them several times before. Unless the ordering scheme has changed you email them your order form and in a couple of days you should receive an electronic invoice that includes shipping. You then submit payment for that invoice.

I have bought from them for quite a while now and no problems at all. There may be a backorder on some of your items. Normally they will hold shipment until it's complete unless you tell them otherwise when you order. If there is a back order they send another e-mail to that effect and ask you what you want to do.

They will not charge your credit card until the order ships.

I have ordered from them. I picked up from their location though. It's been a while, but I think I made my order on the phone, and when it was in, they called me at home to pick up.

I bought some Takman and Arcol resistors from them a few weeks ago. I didn't have any problems. Like you I received an email confirmation from them. I think it took maybe a week or 10 days to actually get the shipment. That's a bit longer than other places, but they are in Canada so maybe that has something to do with it.

Overall, I have no complaints and will probably buy some more stuff in the future from them.

From their site they mention that they recently went to an online ordering system.

I just checked my email and I received this reply:

We had sent you a couple of emails regarding the freight. I am sorry that you did not receive them.
The freight comes to $15.00. Your order total came to 12.55.
Please let us know if we can ship.

I should have received any emails since I received the order confirmation.

This was for 13 resistors.

I don't get this, my order totaled $7.55 before shipping and handling.
So then they tack on a $5.00 handling fee plus $15 shipping fee.

Now it looks like they want to charge me $27.55 total for 13 resistors.

I told them to forget it.

Tom, I never order less than $25 as that is the minimum and anything less is an added $5 charge. I also choose small package airmail, which is the cheapest. I've never paid more the $10 even with resistors and 6 feet of DAC.

Were the resistors that you were looking for Takman CF or PRP's? If so, PM me because I might some of what you wanted.

FYI, Kiwame and Takmans are just KOA/Speer rebranded.

Seems reasonable for a handful of resistors actually.

Angela, tubesandmore, hndme is just as bad if you only order a few bucks worth of stuff.

I almost never put in an order under 100 anymore.

I understand the minimum order thing.
I cancelled the order and will wait until I need a bunch more stuff before ordering again.

I was mainly after a few PRP values but I think I have them in RN65D so I'm good.

Say What!!!

You mean those pinkish "developed for the DIY audio community" are just re branded? Both the carbon and metal film? I feel so cheap.

Do you have a source for them that is less than the $2 a pop.

Nope, I never see the Takman CF, but once in awhile I see the MF at surplus houses and they are no more expensive that any other KOA MF.

The "kiwame" is .16 at Mouser.
