Transformer recommendation..

I'm trying to build a Rocket/Z-wreck amp, and would like to have a PT with two high voltage secondaries, so that I can use the Comfort/Speed switch.

I live in Norway, and need 230V primary. Can anyone point me in the right direction, to where I can find such a transformer.

By the way, what does HT (high tension?) transformer mean really?

HT stands for High Tension and is a classic/antiquated term for high voltage.
HT = HV! same thing. In the U.S. HT/HV is often referred to as B+ where the B stands for Battery and + indicates the polarity.

Sorry, can't help you with a PT in Norway. Aurora (a member here) lives in Norway and he and others on that side of the ocean might have some tips where to get a transformer that fits your needs.

It also varies according to language. For example, the French, haute tension (HT), means high voltage. You'll see Europeans use HT.

Very cool Phil, I didn't know that about the French translation. Growing up, I remember my grandpa referring to the power lines as "the high tension wires".

"High Tension" refers to the Godzilla power source... at least in some forms of musical folklore.

Tdale, it might be difficult to find such a tranny. One option to consider is to use a standard power tranny, plus another smaller power tranny say 230V to 20V (with the same or greater current rating) and you can switch it in to add voltage in series with the main tranny to get the higher voltage, or the opposite, use it to subtract from the main power tranny. Commonly known as a buck or boost transformer, depending on how its wired. Another option is switchable SS/tube rectifier, another option is Edcor custom wound. Or maybe you will just find such a transformer, hopefully.

What kind of voltages and current rating are you looking for? I'm not familiar with the rocket...

I think he's looking for 260 and 280V AC secondary windings, or thereabouts.

Sorry I forgot to answer your current rating question, I think 250mA is preferred.

It saus 0 - 250 - 260 - 310 etc.
Another transformer has 310 - 280 - 0 - 280 - 310

Does the first ond dekkjer only 250, or does it have a venter tap and dekkjer a total og 500v ?

0-250 delivers 250VAC and has no no center tap... bridge rectified you'd get ca. 350VDC

250-0-250 is centertapped and delivers 500VAC or 2*250AC if you like. Full wave rectified you'd expect around 350VDC.
