Need help with a 4-4-0 (Tonestack)

Post by godi »

Hi guys.
I just try my new 4-4-0 today, I must say the amp deliver the typical Trainwreck caracter, I can hear it ring .... ':D'

I try with one tube first, than with two (my preference for a fuller tone) but the tonestack is not working, the switch, the volume, treble, middle and bass pots are not in the circuit ???? The amp play well, loud, like if the volume was set to 10 (maximum), any clue, tips or suggestion ?
I'm human, I must have done an error somewhere ?

I follow the AX84 layout, except for the adittion of a second power tube wire in paralel.

Thank for any help on this issue, Jean

its tough to see from the pic but it sounds like somethings not wired right to the tonestack...it looks like an express type amp..Did you compare your tonestack wiring to the express layout in the files section? Also check your grounds off your pots....volume..mid and presence..good luck..youll get it...looks nice by the way

Problem solve

Post by godi »

I found the error, on the first preamp tube, I had the wires on pin 1 and pin 6 inverted, now that perfect. I also rewire the middle and bass pots as per Amp Garage and Ceriatone Express layouts, but the problem really came from my mistake.

Cheers, Jean ':D'

Nice looking build and I love the faceplate and backplate.
