This amp has been discussed before but new members probably didn't see this thread so I keep it alive to show what many of us have done with various layouts and schematics provided by good members here. Check out Normster, rjguitar, Zippy, Rawnster and others that have built octal power tube Rockets.

I bought 5 blemished cabs from Dr Z and one blemished 212 combo cab all in red I had to use them up!

The amp is Normster's layout I just added boost switching off V1b now pedal switched. V1 plate is 150k instead of 220k. Using a SS rectified plug to boost voltage and it is driving two 6550 tubes. From the front panel you can see I also used Normster's reverb pad which is nice when your overdriving the preamp the reverb can get mushy. You can use a 12AT7 instead of the 12AX7 in the reverb which helps to get it more subtle.

Mark, I just took out an old intercom, radio ( tube ) in my house. Did not want to recap it. But lo and behold there was a Mullard 12AT7 in there. I'll try it on the reverb.

Mr.fowler do u have a layout for this version with the 6l6s. I built the rocket just wondering what I need to change. The layout used is Normster's popular reverb rocket one with EL34 output.

There are two different versions but I like the board layout of the EL84 version better 500pf mica cap is moved next to the PI connected to the 220k, better layout.

As far as switching for boost or tone cap switching you have to figure out what you want there. I use 10uf/25v ecap for boost off V1b using mini spst switch or foot switched later on in the build.

For the persons wanting to add reverb to an existing Rocket or what I call the Rockster (Octal Rocket) style chassis, there is plenty of room for the extra tube. It doesn't take a lot to make this all work out and adds a nice extra feature to the Rocket sound.
