Heard some great express tone yesterday..

Post by azatplayer »

my buddy has this damn express he built a year ago or so. Was his first build and out of the box the damn thing was perfect. Hes had issues with dc along the way but has sorted that out. Plenty run in now too.
Hes a maniac for tubes and speakers and musta tried every tube known to man and most of the speakers too!
Well we tried a H75 scumback coupled with a weber bluedog alnico yesterday, both 50 watters.
My custom shop 50's thinline, and very surprisingly, a jamman delay..super quiet pedal, ooooh the tone! Amazing speaker duo, damn near perfection.
Will try and get some vid of it in action. Recorded some yesterday but was distorted, damn iphones..
I hate him for building a fussy amp that came out so damn well!!

Don your having too much fun :)

What the hell was his secret to the Express, wire, caps, lead dress, etc.

I have a pair of those H75 Scumbacks in a slant 212. No Weber speakers yet.

I've never made an unstable wreck. Even when using different layouts like a Marshall for instance. Maybe I'm just lucky x x

Taylor,

My wife wanted or rather insisted on a large home one with large garage and room for my band stuff as she calls it.

I get the whole basement to play in. :) My stash is nothing compared to some people on this forum and my stuff is on the cheap side that allows me to collect more. I would love to get some 4x12 cabinets from Jim at Scumback, maybe some day. :)
