Is the master still the master with a built-in dumbleator?
I was just looking at a schematic of a bassman conversion to a 124 ODS with built-in Dumbleator and the Dumbleator goes straight into the PI. So is the master on a 124 still a master when using a dumbleator?

Many of us use the Output pot on the Dumbleator as the overall Master Volume.
A common way to set the amp knobs is to have the Pre Volume and Master at noon, then control the overall volume with the Return and Output of the Dumbleator.
If you have a Dumbleator with only the Send and Return pots, it might not work as well.

Ok thanks. I am planning one with only send and return controls. But will I need to rearrange the layout? Also, will changIng the master volume change what is fed into the effect units?

Something you could do is not wire the master volume as it is in the ODS amp and install the output master of the Dumbleator in the front panel in place of it.
But since the Master pot is a 1Meg pot you may have to experiment with values.
Definitely something to think about.
Be easy to change if you didn't care for it.
The output of the D'lator simply takes the place of the fixed 220K on the return.

Re: Is the master still the master with a built-in dumbleator?
The best way i've found is to set the internal dlator send and return levels for their respective sweet spots and leave them alone. i used trimmers for both. then the master is still the master, and the tone remains relatively constant. I omitted both bright switches, and nfb, they wrecked the tone for me.

I used the "old"master as a "fx in" control. All other pot values I replaced by fixed values except for the out control of the dlator; I moved this pot to the front of the amp as a master volume.

Using- the Dlator for a Global Master is a great tool since it allows you to set Clean and OD at unity volume since many times just you need to push the OD channel up past where you would on the Master (on the amp).
