Should I try these tubes....

Post by solderstain »

... in my new Express build? I've had them sitting in a drawer for about 5 years for a planned JTM45 build that never happened...

They sound better in a Wreck than a JTM.

I hate you though.

The funny thing is (at least to me), is that I'd literally forgotten I had them. I have a good friend (with deep pockets) who had a real, no-kidding JTM45, and he accumulated several sets of these. About 5 years ago, he gifted me with this pair when I thought I was going to build myself a JTM45 clone to complement my old metal-panel SL. I stuffed the tubes in a pair of socks to protect them on the drive home from his place in SoCal, and put them in 'junk drawer' in my dresser in my bedroom so they didn't get banged around in the tube drawers in my work shop. Since I lost interest in the JTM45 build, and I seldom have reason to go into my 'junk drawer', these faded from memory. I just rediscovered them a couple of days ago!

From the comments, it sounds like these will be happy in an Express-style circuit, so I'll put them in the Express this weekend.

Awesome! Those are some sweet looking tubes.

Does that make them FABNRNOS?
