komet q's

For the choke, I have a hammond 156G laying around. Would this be appropriate to use?

Also, what changes would one make (if any) to use KT 66's?

nope the choke is too small in current rating and too high in resistance.
for a hammond get the 159p. the only other adjustments you'd make (other than biasing changes) would totally be up to your ear and what you're looking for tonally with kt66's and how they mesh with the circuit to you. rh

thanks, that is what i thought in regard to the choke.

what do you think about putting a resistor in there ala Trainwreck. Is the choke just that much better? What resistance should one use?

Not a Komet, but I have tried cathode bias on my Express copy. It didn't work for me. It didn't lower the volume and completely hosed the "envelope" of the notes, messed up the compression and feel of the amp, and turned it into something I didn't like. Someone else might love it.
Just my opinion.....

Sweetwood, I would use the set that was made for that amp. They are interchangeable with the Concorde Iron except for the OT. If you are looking for the same sound that is. PM me for info. The voltage as stock is too high for KT-66's IMO
