I love the TAD 6L6 short bottle tubes, sound great and every set works right out of the box.

Anybody know if the TAD 6L6GC-STR and the 6L6WGC-STR are both made by Shuguang? Are these the result of the Ruby collaboration, or something else?

I'm currently using the TAD 6L6 STR's in my ODS.

They seem to be holding a fairly steady bias.

The tubes prior were Tung Sol 6L6 which drifted horridly.
They were bought from The Tube Store.

I bought the TAD's from Doug's Tubes and he claims to burn in power tubes at least 24 hours before matching.

Not laughing. I just tried these for the first time. Supposedly, a more robust build of Sovtek 6L6WXT+. I liked them quite a lot. I also just tried some GT 6L6S that sounded damn fine(Likely JJ?).

I am normally stuck on SED winged Cs, but those things are way pricey now......

Just put TAD 6L6WGC STR in my new HRM 50 Ciaratone and I'm really liking them. I see why they are popular. (Tung Sol RI for preamp)

I agree, I would like to try the SED Winged C's too, but the price is rather prohibitive right now.

On my 50w amp I used the Winged C 6L6 and I had planned on using them in my new 100w amp.
But man, they almost doubled the price on those!

So I had to look for a cheaper alternative.

Thanks for the replies guys. I take it that everyone plays some kind of rock.

Which tubes get toothier when overdriven?
