attaching chassis to cabinet
I have just started a Trainwreck Express build and I have some questions about how to connect the chassis to the wooden cab. I thought of using a box nut, but I don't have the punch to make the square hole for it. Can anyone give me some alternatives and maybe a link to a source?

Re: attaching chassis to cabinet
drill a 10mm hole and get a file out for the box nut.
thats how I do it and it's pretty easy work.

Re: attaching chassis to cabinet
I drilled and tapped some 1/4-20 holes in my chassis, made a template and then drilled slightly larger holes in my cabinet. Then I found some large rubber feet, drilled holes in them and secured it with 1/4-20 screws. It may not be correct if you are building an exact clone, but it worked out well for me.

I used Allynmey's chassis so all I had to do was drill my holes and presto all done
Seriously, though I have used 10-24 fasteners that you either pop rivet or machine screw/nut to the chassis edge on Hammon/Bud chassis types. Like the ones the Dumble chassis use. T-style.
Also I have used the nut-serts as well.
I did fine some stronger clip type to try out on another home brew chassis.

How so Randy?
File out the round hole to square to fit the box nuts that have retainers which holds the nut in that square hole.
Ignore if you were just kidding!

It's one of those moments that you'd think maybe just marginal intelligence might make you think of that, but alas the brain fart comes into play...M Fowler wrote:How so Randy?![]()
