TW Circuit With 1 Knob Tone Control

I am wondering if anyone has already tried a 1 knob tone control or any of the TW amp circuits? I am considering most likely an Express type amp but my chassis does not have enough face plate area for the TMB or TB tone stack. Does anybody know of any inherent problems with this or any suggestions for what tone control might work well with the circuit?

Without the tonestack loss, I think there would be a LOT of gain...probably way too much.

You could try building a 6G3 deluxe (ditch the trem and 2nd input) and taking the input to the PI below the 100k plate on the 2nd stage, rather than the junction between the 100k and 15k. I think that would have a similar amount of gain to an express, and has just the 1 tone control. It may also be a good idea to reduce some coupling a bypass cap values, cause that amp can get a wee bit flabby.

Going the other way, you might consider the One-Tone-Knob route but pair it with the Rocket rather than Express/Liverpool.

I was thinking the same thing Zippy.

If you went with volume control only it would be more like the Brian May AC30 with fixed values.

With volume and tone control you might want the cut control either in fixed values or a knob or trimmer. This would be like a 12AX7 version of the Stangray instead of EF86 first position.
