Rocket w/ Reverb

Hi, I see on your schematic you ask where the 220k off of pin 2 of V2 goes. The other end meets ground on the RCA reverb input, along with the RCA output ground and a ground lead back to the pre-map buss ( or star ) ground.

Excellent - thank Michael Tobias for teaching me how to troubleshoot a guitar setup 30 years ago.amplifiednation wrote:Haha, no I didn't. I just tried the guitar in another amp and all was good, but raised it up just a tad anyway and the buzz is gone on the rocket.
Take the offending guitar back to the tech that just set it up and have him fix that buzz. Chances are you have a fret lifting on the bass side or a twist in the neck near the body joint.

Here is a schematic that Rawnster did with KT 66 and I changed it to EL84s.

Re: Rocket w/ Reverb
Thanks to everyone's help, I've got myself a completed rocket. I had some extra time on Saturday so I spun out this cab...cut and wood burnt the face plate myself...as you can tell from my "reverberating rocket" logo. I'm sure there will be mixed reviews on my art, but I thought the cab came out awesome. Not really KF, but neither is the boost or reverb!!! I'm gonna throw some metal vox corners on it to hide the corner seams once i get my hands on some little black screws.

Very nice work. Any sound clips yet?

						saga
My Rocket saga continues. I put in the PPIMV which is a very nice tool. I find I can go to a maxed distortion and gain at useable volume with the PPIMV and I also have the VVR for controlled crunch and cleans. At some point I will build a classic Rocket, but this has been a good learning tool and I do like the variability. Tone is still right there.
I have to get sorted out on the faceplate markers and knobs.
cheers Ange
PS thanks guys

Re: Rocket w/ Reverb
Ange,
Incredibly executed!! The wiring is superb. So what best keeps the original tone? The VVR, AirBrake, or PPIMV?
I get a lot of compression when attenuating past -6db. Still sounds good though even up to -12db.
The Rocket has some awesome natural gain when you push it. Great to know you know have three different ways to get her to growl.

Re: Rocket w/ Reverb
I've tried all of what you listed. The PPIMV sounds best to me. However, I don't think the Rocket really needs it. It sounds great at low volumes, and with the volume knob hardly cracked open. To me, the Rocket is a clean-ish amp that can be slammed with pedals.amplifiednation wrote:Ange,

my 2 cents...
thanks
Thanks Taylor, I would say that my airbrake is going to gather dust. The PPIMV is a very good tool, so is the VVR... I have both now. The PPIMV enables me to dial in a reduced volume while retaining the gain structure. So If I want some crunch/distortion I can use the volume knob with the PPIMV to get dialed in. The VVR has a different feel. In mine it takes the whole amps voltage down and I prefer it for the Clean set-up at good volume. Still experimenting with using all three, V/PPIMV/VVR - throw in the boost and its endless.

Yes, I agree that Rocket is superb as we know, but its been great to try all these things out. I think that the 1/2 power is gonna go at some point. VVR is transparent as is the PPIMV ( at least to my RR beaten ears ). so they stay. I also really like the boost.
Ange
PS Ron what pedals are you digging .... I have the OCD/Zen and RC Boost, all good on the front end.

I currently have a TIM and Small Fry on my board. But have tried Zen and Burn Unit which sounded great too.angelodp wrote:PS Ron what pedals are you digging .... I have the OCD/Zen and RC Boost, all good on the front end.
