HV AC switch suggestions sought
I have a Weber W022772 PT with dual HV secondaries (300-0-300 and 330-0-330).

Wondering what ya'll would suggest for a switch (DPDT type I would presume) to allow easy switching to a tube recto.
TIA,
Dave O.

Dave, I have done dual HT switching on a couple amps.
I have attached the Ceriatone Rockit layout that shows how it is done.
Mounted mine on the back panel not underneath as Nik does.

Yep....thats exactly what I want to do!
Thanks Mark. Any chance that you recall where you bought your switch and its P/N?
I think that I am having some kind of "Mouser senior moment". Can't for the life of me make the filters whittle down the ~100,000 available switch options to one that I need!
Thanks again,
Dave O.

I bought some switches from Steve at Apexjr http://www.apexjr.com/
The red switch 5th one down http://www.apexjr.com/Switches.htm
On the Zwreck I used a Carling P-H527 DPDT switch on-off-on

I am using those switches from Steve on a build i am doing now.
BTW, i was actually in Steve's warehouse last weekend. He has an unbelievable amount of stuff there. Much more than he has listed at his site. If you have other stuff you need you should email him to see if he has it before you buy just the switches from him. He's a good guy to do business with.

Re: HV AC switch suggestions sought
Make sure you don't use an On - On - ON switch or your voltages will combine in the center position.
When in doubt always test a switch with continuity before you solder/install.
here is a diagram if anyone needs it.

On-On-On switches are pretty rare.
On-Off-On are nice though, because in the middle position you got standby.

Dave West sells a cool switch
He calls it a: Double Pole Triple Throw PROGRESSIVE
This is a two circuit, three position switch.
In the bottom position, both circuits are off.
In the middle position. one circuit is on.
In the top position, both circuits are on.
THIS IS THE SWITCH THAT ALLOWS YOU TO
HAVE BOTH A POWER ON-OFF, AND A STANDBY
SWITCH, IN THE SAME HOLE !!!

Not that progressive Sundown has been doing that since the early 80'sStructo wrote:Dave West sells a cool switch

Re: HV AC switch suggestions sought
Structo, sound slike the progressive switch goes from off, to heaters only to full on, except I heard you should turn the amp off but let the original standby swtich remain connected. If this is the case (and I have no idea why it would be just taking verbatim as gospel, doh!) the "progressive switch" would shut it all off, but the connection for stby would be off as well.
Why do people suggest (with two switches) to turn the amp off but leave standby on?

Re: HV AC switch suggestions sought
standby is often an easy way to drain the filter caps in the on position.

Re: HV AC switch suggestions sought
I've seen an on-off-on wired like the Sundown on a Valco amp from the mid-'60's. This progressive switch is a two-circuit, where moving to the middle position throws one side of the DPDT, and moving to the top position throws the other side. It's a standard Carling part.selloutrr wrote:Not that progressive Sundown has been doing that since the early 80'sStructo wrote:Dave West sells a cool switch

Re: HV AC switch suggestions sought
Can someone explain to me what the parenthesis mean when referring to the position of a switch?
What's the difference between on-on-on and (on)-on-(on)?
I'm looking for something I can plug an input into the middle of a DT switch and have it switch between both sides active in the middle, or either side active by itself when switched correspondingly.

any on-on-on switch will give you what you are after.
