I need a hug! and a latte I'm out of milk  it's gonna be a rough morning....

Quick thought... I might have missed it, i'll admit with all the spatting my brain sort of blocks out what is bening said even though I read it. What amp circuit are these caps being used in?
The standards may be the best choice for your circuit, i.e. Dumble as they will have more of an Orange Drop tone, displaying more of crisp top end. The premiums aren't meant to be better then the standards they are meant to emulate the Astons and Molded Blues exactly (or as close as possible). If you have a Vintage Fender that has gone belly up on you, and the true tone of the amp matters (Studio Amp) You aren't forced to alter the tone. If the premiums were the best cap for all amps they would not offer the standards, different strokes for different (amps..) folks.

Despite the conflict, there is a lot of good information in this thread. I got a great deal out of it, not the least of which is some new caps to try out.

Gotta love cap threads !!! Especially when the bickering starts- - then megamind experts come out of the woodwork and try to offer proof that their opinions are fact- --- what a bunch of crap---use whatever caps you like and don't worry about it...................gldtp99

Sometimes I play a 50's burst, other times I play a tele I cobbled together. They both sound great.

How much is too much to spend on signal caps? Just enough is just enough. Umm.. things that claim to be premium and/or superior are usually just premium because they come in a nicer box.

Many times.

Stop chasing the tone, and find it. ;-)

I love Sozo's because reading about them gives me more laughs than any other type of capacitor!

As electronic components go, in terms of entertainment value, they're right up there with the cathode-ray tube! :D

It's really almost as good as a TGP Dumble thread.

I ran out of popcorn so I guess I will chime in.

I prefer the Sozo Vintage over any other cap. I do hear the difference once they are broken in. But then what do I know--I have only been building amps for 30+ years--a mere pittance compared to many builders.

Can I have a hug too?

I am wondering, when you say you hear the difference....what do you compare the "broken-in" caps to.?

Compared to caps that weren't broken in.

Just a quick plug for Darin's STK caps. I've always had a bit of concern with not being able to tame the hi frequencies in an older express build I have. Well, I got some STKs from Darin. I replaced the bass and mid .022 caps, PI coupling caps .022. For fun I replaced the 500pf treble cap and the 47pf snubber cap (C12) with polystyrene caps. I'm extremely pleased with the results. It took that "icepick in the forehead" out of the tone. Now I can actually adjust the treble and mid pots a bit more. The overall tone is warmer...and for what it's worth, takes pedals even better now. :-)

Thanks Darin for offering STK as a viable option to the usual.

Rawnster thanks for the report on the caps.

Thanks Mark. That amp is a Rocket-ish build I did a few months ago I posted in the trainwreck forum. There are a few gut shots there. The guy who posted it is quite the salesman. While that amp does sound very good, I truly am no amp master, like he says. I apologize to anyone who took offense at his post. He should be trying to sell it on the gearpage, craigslist, ebay or something, not here.

I received my SKT caps and will be putting them in a Super and perhaps upgrading the Eagle kit a bit. Thanks again for the tip, Darin.
