On Alchemy, there is a wicked series of solos by Knopfler in 'Private Investigations'
I think the Guitar is Suhr, is the amp Soldano?

Alchemy is from 1983. Was John making guitars back then?
I don't have the DVD though so I'm assuming you're referring to the same performance of Private Investigations as on the CD.

Re: Alchemy
If I am correct, I thought that he started using a Pensa Suhr on Money for Nothing
The amp will likely be a Soldano- definitely not a Komet yet

.........Now where did I put it?
Re: Alchemy
IIRC, he did not start using the Pensa-Suhr till '87 or so.
What I would like to know is what setup did he use for Brothers in Arms (the song)? Riding the volume pedal gave a very haunting tone and sound.

Re: Alchemy
I remember reading somewhere that a cocked wah contributed to the tone for a lot of the Brothers in Arms album. Can't remember whether that was specifically for the title track though.John_P_WI wrote:What I would like to know is what setup did he use for Brothers in Arms (the song)?
MK has awesome tone (and feel) on everything he plays.
