Express clone sample sounds

Post by LarryLarry »

Ok, now that it's 'done', here are a few sound clips. Guitar plugged straight in; video and audio recorded with a Sony Bloggie MHS-CM5.

More details in the video...

Hey Larry,

Sounds nice.

How the heck are you? It's been a while since I've seen you post on the forums.

Hey Darin! Good to hear from you!

Yep, been awhile since I've been on here, and since I last built an amp (over a year). Recognize the speaker cabinet??

Busy busy busy. New position at work (at Sage Software), 2 new foster children (since Sept.) Move to Georgia in '07 as I think you know.

How 'bout you?

Building amps like crazy. I'm now the North American Distributor for Fane. Still remodeling my house. You know, staying busy.

How do you like GA?

Congrats on the new fosters! Exciting stuff.

Nice full thick sound.

Those transformers seem to work well for your build.

I"m happy

I'm very happy with the sound. The Greenback has some grit and low end and a bit of speaker breakup and the MC-90 adds some smoothness and mids.

Here it is with me playing a Tele through it.

Sounds like a good Express to me....... Especially liked the way the junior or special? sounded through it. Great work....not an easy amp to build right.

Thanks guys. Big Jim - I'm kind of partial to the cheapo SX LP jr with P90s myself. It's hard to believe a $130 Chinese made guitar can be put together so well and sound so good.

Got a chance to play the new build last night. This is Doctor Bombay playing BOC's "Burnin' for You". I'm playing a Gibson Flying V (50th anniversary guitar of the month from March 2008). It has a covered Gibson 500T pickup in the bridge. I have EL34's in the amp for this song. I started the night running 6V6s but didn't have enough headroom...
