A New Record @ 15'
Yes it's another big snake caught in Florida. This time just south of Jacksonville in a new subdivision near Saint Augustine. Pythons get that big all the time you say, but look closely gents because it's not a python. It's an Eastern Diamondback, the largest on record with a strike range of almost 6 feet (normal range is around 2). His head is larger than a grown mans hand, his fangs 4 inches apart and one bite contains enough venom to kill 40 men....Wow!!

Thats a whopper. Never seen one even close to that, and I'm a native Fla. Cracker! There is a photo of one in a local fish camp near my house from the fifties that is probably 10' and FAT! But 15'.....WOW.

I think you're right Mike. We have some big Rattlers around here and I've never seen anything even close to that. I noticed that they never showed the person holding the snake up on that stick thing. It's all in the camera angle. It's like holding your prize fish way out at arms length for photos...makes 'em look WAY bigger. Not that I have ever done thatToneMerc wrote:It's another internet hoax.

I can see that, now that I look closer, but it doesn't make me like snakes anymore.

It certainly would have gotten your attention if it was to buzz. It sounds like a lot of bacon sizzling in a pan. However, they don't always buzz. I've walked past them in the woods, within three feet, and they never buzzed. An Eastern that big would take large rabbits, small raccoons, rats, small cats or dogs, it really only has one enemy, man. Oh, and if that thing was 7' 3", it was probably a record.selloutrr wrote:I wonder how loud it's rattle was?

I'm so glad we don't get snakes like the rattle in the UK!
Re: A New Record @ 15'
Travst, funny! I lived in FL and we'd run em over all the time in our truck. My buddy would skin 'em, rollit up the skin and throw it in the freezer then make wallets and stuff out of it. I love your use better tho!
